How to resolve Roomba wifi setup issues?

Common reasons why Roomba refuses to connect to wifi is the use of incorrect credentials. Another reason can be disabled wireless feature and internet not working from the server end. Whenever you face internet connectivity-related issues, it is important that you perform some additional checks like-

  • Inspect if the WiFi connection is working
  • See if the device is turned on and working
  • If the home base station is within network range
  • RESET Roomba to factory default

Checking the WiFi connection

Use a wireless device like a smartphone or a tablet or a laptop to see if the internet is working on them. If the internet works on these devices, you’ll need to reset Roomba to factory default and try again completing the wifi setup. However, if the internet doesn’t work on these devices as well, you’ll need to approach your ISP(Internet Service Provider) and ask them for a resolution. Moreover, if there’s a problem from the server end, you can wait for some time as well.

Check the power connections

See if the Roomba robot is placed correctly over the home base. Also, see if the home base is connected to a power source. Next, check if the lights on the front panel of the Roomba are glowing. If not, press the CLEAN button to wake Roomba up. Once Roomba and the base station are powered on, try connecting to the internet again.

Moving Roomba closer to WiFi

If the main router is located away from the Roomba robot, you may face connectivity issues. This might again generate Roomba not connecting to wifi issue. When connecting Roomba to wifi, it is important that the home base be placed at a location with the maximum signal coverage. The lesser the distance between the devices, the more functional the Roomba be.  You can try keeping Roomba and the base station in the same room. Also, make sure there are no obstructions between the two. Moreover, you can also try using a range extender if you are still facing issues with wifi coverage.

RESET Roomba to default settings

If you wish to reset your Roomba device, you can use the buttons on top of the robot to do so. The reset process for Roomba varies according to the model you use. The Roomba reset process for the 900-series is mentioned-

  • Press the Dock, Spot Clean, and Clean buttons on the Roomba simultaneously till the LEDs on the front panel light up.
  • Some other models of Roomba emanate a beep sound and a light on the LEDs when you press the buttons.
  • Once you notice this behavior, release the buttons and allow some time for the robot to reboot.
